During Year One we learn our phonics through lots of fun games and learning activities. We work both inside and outside with our friends. Some of our most favourite games are using the water pistols to squirt sounds and words, phonics detective when we are plunged into darkness and we use our torches to read and sound out new and familiar words. Other games we love are twister, hook a duck, xylophone and bell phonics, chuck a duck, pick a stick, word wheels, word box, blow football, fidget spinner challenge, bingo, jenga phonics, splat the sound, popcorn phonics, phonics fishing, googly eyes, stacking cups and many more exciting activities. Ask us which is the one we prefer to play with our friends. In Year 1 we are lucky to have some parents and grandparents who come into our class regularly to share these fun times with us. Mrs Sykes and Mrs Beech think that we are fabulous at phonics!
