Computing is linked to broader themes in the curriculum but aims to develop the children’s ability to understand and apply the fundamental principles and concepts of computer science, including abstraction, logic, algorithms and data representation. Pupils will be given opportunities to analyse problems in computational terms, evaluate and apply information technology in order to become responsible, competent, confident users of technology. Children will also look at technology outside of school to encourage and support them with becoming “digitally literate”. Online safety is particularly important with pupils given clear age appropriate guidance throughout school.
