Religious Education
“Catholics believe that Religious Education is not one subject, among many, but the foundation of the entire educational process. The beliefs and values it communicates should inspire and unify every aspect of school life”.
(Bishops’ Conference of England & Wales, 1988)
Religious Education is an integral part of all learning in our school, providing a context for the whole curriculum and supplemented through character education, collective worship, liturgies and Mass held both at school and in our parish church St Mary’s Catholic Church. Knowledge about our religion is taught through the Diocesan preferred scheme of work, ‘The Way, the Truth and the Light.’ Spiritual development is taught through the Diocesan scheme ‘Virtues to live by’ and this, along with Gospel values, is at the heart of our ethos as a school.
